Patient Communications

Patient Communications encompasses multiple work flows, focusing on communication between you and the patient as well as displaying certain Clinical Information to assist you in communicating with the patient.

There are 2 ways to interact with Patient Communications.

  1. Regarding 1 specific patient in the Patients | Patient Communications section.
  2. Review multiple patients in the Workflow | Task List section.

This topic will discuss all of the related communications workflows.

  • The Communications Hub
    • Communications- automated texts and emails from patientNOW to the patient or from the patient to patientNOW; received faxes and incoming phone messages.
    • Notes- document phone calls between the practice and the patient with no follow-up required; may be attached to a Treatment Pathway or just be a general note. You cannot assign a note, but you can copy the contents to the patient's sticky note.
    • Procedures of Interest- assign these to a patient if they express interest in a new procedure. For information on configuring these values, see Configuring Procedure Categories.
    • Appointment History- a complete history of the patient's appointments, including deleted and canceled appointments. For additional information, check out Communications Hub - Patient Appointments
  • Tasks- allows you to communicate action items to other members of the practice (or yourself); set a due date and categorize the action item.
  • Educational Handouts- gives you the option of emailing or printing educational handouts to the patient. When emailed, the email is documented in Patients | Patient Communications, Communications Hub tab - Communications section and in Patients | Patient Documents.
